"Dream Ball" is the title of a fairy tale that allows children to address the theme of death (which they know is near) with parents and caregivers, being a beautiful metaphor of transformation, born in a context of accompanying young cancer patients in Canada.
"Dream Ball" is a young dolphin who is a little special: his universe is the sea, but he feels irresistibly attracted by what exists… above the water level, an unknown and fascinating world!
And then one day a strange metamorphosis occurs: the dolphin sprouts wings! What transformation awaits him?
"Dream Ball" is the work of Lise Thouin, who has been working for years in Canada with terminally ill children and it is to them that she told this story for the first time. Delicate and full of poetry, this fable helped the children and their parents to face together, with greater serenity, the difficult situation they were experiencing.
It is true that it is not as famous as Snow White, but there is also a sound version with Marco Columbro, narrator, Lorella Cuccarini, narrator and an extraordinary children's choir from Vicenza, who enthusiastically and completely freely joined the project several years ago, when it was adopted by a group of publishers: at the time there was no law on Hospices, so the project was limited to spreading this fairy tale for free in schools, libraries and associations for the assistance of sick children.
25,000 copies were given away, funded by various initiatives.
A HOSPICE PROJECT AND "HOUSE OF RELIEF" FOR CHILDREN
FOCUSED ON EMPATHIC ACCOMPANIMENT OF SUFFERING
"A Casa di Palla di Sogno" is a global project, involving many layers of society and aiming to become the European pilot project in empathic end-of-life support for children and their families; it includes a European training school and the Hospice itself, with a very different concept compared to existing projects. The search for funding for this project is 360°: European funds, banking and private foundations, regional, municipal, private funds (legacies, donations and even very modest offerings). All ideas are welcome!
