Advance Care Directives at the End of Life
LET'S COMPLETE THEM TOGETHER WITH THE TONGLEN VOLUNTEERS!
Welcome to our 1st DAT CAFÈ in person, at our headquarters in Via Massena 82 Turin 28 January 2024 9.30-17.30
With the 2017 law, Informed consent and advance directives for treatment (DAT), it is now possible to declare our provisions regarding medical treatments and care at the end of our life, as well as appoint a person of our trust who will be responsible for enforcing our wishes. This is the so-called living will.
There are many forms available and we at the Tonglen OdV Association have decided to create our own: it is the result of a long research work and draws on the experience of accompanying our volunteers who have listened to those who have received a difficult diagnosis or who are dying. Our form also allows us to specify our wishes for the afterlife.
Those of us who have tried to compile our own DATs have often found ourselves faced with terms and technical issues that are not immediately understandable, the implications of which are difficult to see for those who are not familiar with this subject. For this reason, Tonglen OdV has also made available a second document where the various parts are motivated, explained and commented.
Following the many requests we have received, we have also decided to offer some meetings in which our volunteers will calmly explain the various parts of the DAT form, help you fill it out, for yourself or a loved one, clarify your doubts and answer your questions.
